Quick Overview

The new Gear Belt wraps around the top of a mesh seat and enables you to attach things there. It lets you attach hydration packs, like the Fastback 70LS, Double Century, and 4.0 to seats that are otherwise difficult to attach to. The Rans and Bacchetta mesh seats, for example, are very nice, but they don't have anything at the top or on the back to let you attach anything. This really limits what you can do. The Gear Belt solves that problem by providing 14 different attachment points up near the top of the seat.

You can attach anything of your choosing. If you are touring with a mesh back seat, you'll appreciate being able to lash your sleeping bag, tent, laundry bag, etc. behind the seat. If you have a mesh seat that has places to attach things, but they are too low (Greenspeed, Sun, etc.), the Gear Belt will provide places to attach things up near the top, where you really want them. A hydration pack that would hang too low otherwise can be lifted up to the top of the seat so it fits properly.

The Gear Belt wraps around the front of the seat and buckles in the back. Two wide straps go up and over the back of the seat to keep things from sliding down. The straps wrap over and form to the seat, then velcro back to the inside of the Gear Belt. You effectively form the Gear Belt to the back of your seat, so it looks like it was made exactly for your seat. There are six wide horizontal loops, six 1" wide vertical webbing loops, and two 1.5" vertical webbing loops. You can add buckles to the loops or simply slip straps or ropes through.

The seat width range of the Gear Belt is 13.5 to 16in (34 to 40cm) from outside-outside on the side frame tubes. This covers almost every mesh seatback that we know of except for things like older Linears, which are quite wide.

If you are attaching a Fastback pack like the M70, 70LS, etc. and would like an add on buckle, let us know. (The optional buckles are shown in the photos above.) We have 1in female buckles that can be retrofitted to the 1in loops on the back of the Gear Belt. The Fastback 4.0 is easily attached by looping the main 1.5in strap through one of the wide horizontal loops on the Gear Belt.
